Through the active spread of syndicalist ideals throughout the Worldship Fleet by the Revolutionary Workers Union a large faction of the Pilgrims of Nas actively took on unionism in stride. In response, the conservative and reactionary faction of the Paladins rose up in defense of their ethical and theological code they thought had been harmed by the change. The worldships were now divided, with several civilian worldships strongly held in the hands of the Unionists led by the Observer faction whilst one of the industrial worldship and all military assets were currently tightly under the control of the Loyalists. With tensions high and the fleet holding in close order near each other it was only a matter of time till violence erupted to ever greater heights as the RWU expectantly joined the war in support of the Unionists.
TURN ORDER Unionists (Bridgekeeper) RWU Loyalists
SUMMARY -- The fleet remains close together as the conflict has broken out with the Unionists in control of one Industrial Worldship and the Might of Nas whilst their Loyalist oppoents remain in control of an Industrial Worldship as well as all military assets. -- The fleet remains in the RWU home system and thus all military assets located in this system controlled by the RWU are capable in taking part in the engagements.

Knowing the threat of the loyalist navy, the unionists looks for a way to at least cripple it before it's completion. Vital intel from former shipyard workers indicated a finger of nas class ship was still under construction by the loyalists. Those most dedicated to the unionist cause were chosen to preemptively attack the enemy navy with the commercial vessel's bombers. These men and women don't expect to return home and have prepared to self destruct in case of immanent capture. The plan was plotted in secret and even some key members of the unionist movement were purposefully left in the dark. The generals have yet to be officially appointed but Commander Vorimer, who was a key supporter of Sile's faction (aka The Red Observers) has been given the position of bomber commander by Zondark without Sile's knowledge. Commander Vorimir was a relic of the holy wars which was a time that many Saganites refuse to remember. Vorimir had lived a tragically long life, extended by various cybernetic enhancements to his body.
"men, we will become immortal, dead or alive we shall come out of this heroes standing against tyranny" ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
SUMMARY
-- Send bombers to cripple the loyalist navy by destroying that one warship still under construction

The Union Council had been prepared for almost any scenario resulting from their revolutionary campaign in the Nas Fleet, from total Loyalist takeover to immediate union victory. Among the possibilities, this was far from the worst. Admiral Alagh Walayad and Marshal Kazamar Qoma Busisiwe Okunye had already organized their forces and prepared for military operations. The first to move would be the Admiral, along with the entire Revolutionary Workers' Navy.
The brand new Reaper RWN Sledgehammer, screened and guarded by five Hunter escorts, advanced from the orbit of New Sovereignty to the Loyalist Fleet at full speed. Their mission: Destroy the enemy warships and clear the way for the unionists and Marshal Kazamar's army to take the worldship.

Arch Paladin Gunther knew that, faced with the threat posed to his loyalist faction from both the traitorous scum and the even larger threat of the Revolutionary Workers' Union, only one option was left for the forces that remained loyal to him.
"These ignorant fools... going against all that our proud people have ever stood for, there will be recompense for their actions. For them, and the beasts of the RWU. The true people of Nas shall never forget. Make preparations to retreat from the system, send one warship to assault the traitor's worldship, ram it if needs be. The remaining warship of the fleet will jump with the worldship. Our brothers' sacrifice shall not be forgotten." He spoke with a distinct distaste in his voice for those who betrayed him.
Summary -- One warship ordered to attack the traitor's worldship in a suicide attack -- The remaining ships ordered to flee to the Kwazan Conglomerate

The thrusters the loyalist ships flared to brilliant life as they kicked into full gear to escape the clutches of the RWU and the traitorous unionists, fleeing in the direction of the wormhole with all due haste. A single warship, one of the two Fingers controlled by the Paladins, had been ordered to turn and face the enemy in a suicidal attack to buy their brethren time. The thought had occurred to the captain of the warship that he could just as easily surrender; a thought purged swiftly by fanatical devotion to his faction's cause. With every warrior aboard in agreement and those too scared having fled to the other ship in the escape-shuttles, the ship's main gun played the funeral dirge of their vengeful demise.
The bombers of the Unionists did as ordered, steely determination filling their hearts just as it did that of their conservative kin, a flight of metallic insects hurtling through space in attack formation on the hunt for the yet born warship of the enemy yet held in the hulking womb of the enemy worldship. The attempt to flee had taken the bomber wing by surprise and, to no fault of their own, it became increasingly difficult to keep up and target the well protected from of the fetal spacecraft. Although unable to attain the element of surprise it was still a possibility to keep to their original orders and command lit up with requests for further orders.
The RWU, for their part, rocketed towards the conflict in full force with a desire to bring an end to the violence as quickly as possible. The RWU fleet closed the distance in admirable time, weapons quickly coming into range of the one Loyalist destroyer holding the line. The choice was clear to command; stay the course and keep after the enemy ships, perhaps detach several warships to deal with the pest, or focus everything on halting the ship before the possible suicidal tactics reportedly possible regarding the Loyalist's fanaticism came into play.
SUMMARY -- The Loyalists make good on the early part of their escape, the maneuver taking both the Unionists and the RWU by surprise as they make a beeline for the wormhole to Conglomerate Space with a single destroyer targeting the Unionist worldships. -- The Unionist bombers close the distance with the Loyalist fleet but are unable to strike a decisive blow without becoming separated from the fleet. -- The RWU Fleet has successfully closed the distance between itself and the Unionist worldships and is now able to either aid in destroying the enemy warship or continue to pursue the escaping Loyalists.
OPTIONS -- Both the Unionists and the RWU must make decisions regarding the retreating Loyalists. Will they: a.) Fall back to ensure the defeat of the Loyalist Destroyer and minimize possible civilian casualties? (This choice will lead to an in-thread dice roll to see the success or failure of the action and results of said roll) b.) Send several or all assets to attempt to stop the Loyalists from entering the wormhole in retreat. (This choice will lead to a battle thread to be post involving all Nas warships available and all assets sent by the RWU and the Unionists)

"that bastard, keep him in the system and make him face the judgement of Voyag. And for those fools throwing away their lives for that pathetic quim, focus beam cannons and make them burn"
The Commercial vessel's "piracy and asteroid countermeasures" took aim and started to burn holes into the hull of the destroyer. Bombers were refueled and sent back out to take out the destroyer. While the macabre light show ignited the cosmos, Vorimir demanded that the allied fleet cut Gunther off at the wormhole.
Summary -All Unionist assets mounted to defend against the suicide vessel -Requests to cut off Gunther made to RWU fleet

"Admiral, enemy destroyer on attack run against Nas fleet. Orders?"
Alagh Walayad asnwered without hesitation, "Needlemaker and Weaver change course to intercept and destroy enemy attack vessel. All other Hunters stay with me, full speed ahead to intercept the Paladin."
"Yes, Comrade-Admiral."
Thus, the RWN flotilla split in two, two Hunters breaking off to stop the Paladin's little offensive dead in its tracks while the Sledgehammer and its three remaining Hunter escorts continued on their path towards the Loyalist worldship. The Reaper's dorsal cannon and missile bays were primed and ready to fire, with firing solutions plotted to pummel the Paladin's flagship engines. Both groups of Hunters were prepared to take on their respective enemy destroyers using speed and superior numbers.
__________
-- RWN Sledgehammer, RWN Liberator, RWN Free Peasant, and RWN Harvester continue on path to intercept enemy worldship (noted in first post). All weapons on Sledgehammer prepared to target enemy engines once in range, while Hunters will focus on enemy destroyer.
-- RWN Neddlemaker and RWN Weaver change course to intercept enemy destroyer's attack run.

The Captain and officers of the suicidal warship were issuing orders to the crew of their ship, they were to protect the main fleet by sacrificing themselves in a glorious suicide attack on the rebellious worldship. The Captain ordered his gunners to engage any targets in range, while continuing to close the gap with the worldship.
"Full speed ahead! We must buy enough time for the fleet to escape! Fire beam cannons on the warships! Launch torpedoes at the worldship! Our deaths will ensure the future of the true people of Nas! " spoke the Captain, ordering his crew to continue their suicide mission.
Summary -- Warship continues it's suicide attack at ramming speed, firing weapons at any ships within range, torpedoes are launched at the worldship once in range, and beam cannons fire on enemy warships. -- Arch Paladin Gunther and the remaining ships in the fleet continue to make their break for the wormhole to the Kwazan Conglomerate.

"Brace for impact!"
The klaxons roared with anticipation as the suicidal Loyalist destroyer came hurtling towards the port side of the Might of Nas as cracks of light tore through space at it from the mounted weapons of the Might. Additional fire from the RWN Neddlemaker and Weaver hurled towards the Finger as it closed the distance rapidly as engines were on a full burn. Aboard the loyalist vessel prayers to Voyag were made and in but an instant later the collision occurred. An explosion ripped through the hull of the Might of Nas, instantly vaporizing hundreds as the corpse of the destroyer plowed through the superstructure and crashed deep into the vessel, the worldship bleeding oxygen into the blackness of the void.
Even as the horrors of the suicide attack began to dawn on the Unionists, the RWU rapidly closed with the loyalist worldship and their destroyer. An endless tide of ordinance poured from firing-apertures as the RWU vessels targeted the engines of the Loyalist flotilla and one by one the powerful thrusters of the worldship collapsed on the weight of themselves as damage mounted. With its worldship having been halted dead in space the Finger turned to engage, seeking to take the enemy off guard as best they could with a rapid counter-attack. Hatred spewed from the turret-mounted cannon, firing on the alien scum who had taken everything from them as the ship went into full evasive maneuvers to close with the enemy. A lucky shot punched through the RWN Harvester's superstructure and struck the core, sending the ship into a death-spiral as the powersource overloaded. The explosion ripped the vessel in two leaving a number of life-pods floating in space nearby to the wreck; a conciliatory victory made better by the rapid destruction of the loyalist destroyer by the main of the Sledgehammer turning it to slag and scrap metal.
With the worldship dead in the water and the Loyalist warships vaporized by their own actions or otherwise the war took a drastic turn. Something would have to be done about the dangerously critical Might of Nas whilst the "ground" engagement suddenly became a priority as a full army of Loyalists hunkered down inside their worldship, ready for what the aliens had for them. The fighting would be bloody, harsh, and a slow slog that had very little chance of ending in anything other than suffering for both parties.
SUMMARY -- Both Nas warships spend their lives well, destroying the RWN Harvester and critically damaging the Might of Nas before succumbing. -- The critically damaged Might of Nas is at risk of suffering more catastrophic reactions from the initial suicidal strike and must be dealt with in order to stem casualties. -- Loyalist worldship dead in the water and waits to be engaged or scuttled. Depending on choices, a battle post will be made regarding the boarding of the worldship or the war will end in Unionist victory upon it's destruction.

The devastation of the planned capital of the reborn nation further strengthened the resolve of the revolution. Orders were given to evacuate the vessel, with only the bravest men and women staying behind to preform hasty maintenance on the Might of Nas. The commercial worldship known as "New Astrea" took in most of the refugees from the dying pride of the fleet. The True People's Armies regrouped at the industrial worldship known as The Anvil and made preparations for an assault on the loyalist Worldship. The Anvil eventually made haste to join the RWU fleet to execute the last of Gunther's regime. Summary -- Evacuate Might of Nas with some people left behind to attempt hasty repairs -- Send The Anvil thats carrying the armies to join the RWU fleet surrounding the loyalist worldship -- Prepare the Armies to board the Loyalist Worldship

Thankfully for the unionist comrades of Nas, the Revolutionary Workers' Union had a huge pool of personnel from which to draw aid for the wounded worldship. The bulk of the Revolutionary Guard set out from New Sovereignty with all haste. Sooner to arrive would be the four Hunters remaining from the fleet action, sending their mechanics and technicians into the breach for emergency repairs and damage control. The RWN Sledgehammer would stay behind, keeping watch over the RWU's prey.
None of this impeded the planned assault on the enemy worldship, except that some armies had to be reassigned. The People's Militias of the New Sovereignty System, most notably the experienced Federal People's Militia, would make their attack under the leadership of Marshal Kazamar. Each would attempt to breach the perimeter at a different point from each other and from the unionists, with the aim of spreading the defenders thin. With such an enormous vessel, there were plenty of entry points to choose from.
__________
-- 1st Revolutionary Guard, 2nd Revolutionary Guard, 3rd Revolutionary Guard, and all surviving Hunters move to Might of Nas to help in repairs and damage control.
-- Reaper (Sledgehammer) remains close to enemy worldship to make sure it stays put.
-- Federal People's Militia, New Sovereignty People's Militia, and New Dawn People's Militia land on enemy worldship. Each has a distinct entry point, and none enter in the same place as the unionist armies. Commander is Councilor-Marshal Kazamar Qoma Busisiwe Okunye (General Agent), embedded in the Federal People's Militia.

"They intend to take my ship!?" Arch Paladin Gunther was fuming aboard his worldship. The officers standing around him watched as his anger turned into complete and utter rage. He turned to face them and not yelled "They will not have it! They will not! The beasts will not!"
His officers knew what his intention was. The ship was to be blown up when the enemy armies boarded. His intention was to deploy the First Talon of Nas in defensive positions around the vessel, and defend it to the last man.
"Men! Get those barricades up, now!" spoke a Sergeant, directing his troops. The Nas army set up defensive positions all throughout the ship, civilians were instructed to find whatever weapons they could and report to their nearest military unit to be deployed as part of a large civilian force to aid in the ship's defense. Arch Paladin Gunther ordered that a recorded message be played all throughout the ship, for ever man, woman, child, soldier, civilian, and invader alike to hear;
"People of Nas, the day of our second reckoning is upon us. First the bugs thought they could consume us, and in the end... they failed. Now the traitors and the alien defilers set out to end our existence. Will we lay down and accept our extinction at the hands of those beasts? No! That is not the way of our people! We will rally! We will fight! Side by side and we will repel the invaders! And For every one of us who dies we will claim te- No! Twenty of them!" The Arch paladin paused for just a moment before continuing; "This fight was not, nor is it now, about opposing ideology. Do not be mistaken, they wish for nothing less than our complete annihilation, but we will not allow it! We will not go quietly! We will not vanish! We will fight!"
The cheers of the defenders could be heard all over he ship, the people of Nas stood together now, more than ever. Faced with annihilation at the hands of their traitorous brethren, they stood resolute. They would not be silenced. They would not be vanquished. They would endure.
Summary -- Arch Paladin Gunther delivers a rousing speech to the defenders aboard the worldship and rallies both civilians and military alike. -- The First Talon of Nas deploys troops into defensive positions along with civilian auxiliaries.

On the Loyalist worldship everything had gone quiet; troops and civilians alike wordlessly went about their business as they prepared for the defense of the only thing left of their homeworld and the very real possibility of their own demise. The encouraging words of the High Paladin hadn't failed to hit home, however, and every man, woman, and child did their part; if the alien hordes were to come and take their home from them they would pay for it with their own blood. Aboard the landing craft of the Unionists and their RWU allies it was a different scene entirely; anger flared and spirits held high as they were assured by their commanding officers that this war would be over in the blink of an eye. Words were shared with mirth clearly held in them by the RWU Citizen-Militias whilst their Unionist comrades-in-arms spent their time speaking in hushed tones as they readied themselves to kill their countrymen. Despite the galvanizing effect of the suicidal tactics used by the Loyalists there seemed to be a large minority of Unionist troops who felt the act of invading a worldship to be near sacrilege. No matter the doubts, however, they assured themselves they were ready for everything.
SUMMARY -- Battle of the Worldship has begun as Unionist and RWU forces land in separate areas on the worldship. Battle thread will be posted in War subforum. -- Loyalists fight with increased morale due to invigorating speech and one army of X infantry bearing the Untrained trait [negative modifier to all rolls]

It was finally over; after everything, the Unionists had won their victory. Through a horrid combination of blood, sweat, and tears the last of the Loyalists were cast down in surrender or death and the Arch-Paladin killed in action astride the battlements in his final, desperate defense. With the battle's completion came the end of the war and the road to recovery that laid ahead for the Unionists. Not everything was lost, however. With the successful retake of the ex-Loyalist worldship the Unionist economy remained as powerful as it was before the war and the difficult days to come seemed just a little brighter. In addition, many of the revolutionary forces volunteered to form a new army underneath the High Observer with intention to safeguard the revolution as they took arms and supplies from the storehouses of the loyalists. Not only that, but the soldiery of the Revolutionaries seemed emboldened by their actions; indeed, these were the first soldiers to take part in a revolutionary action in a generation and the galvanizing affect it had on the courageous men and women could not be denied.
