First Joint Scout Flotilla
Joint Fleet Training Exercise
"I'd like to welcome the senior staff from Nezha-I Awangku, and Nezha-I Thahn aboard the RIN Krivak," spoke Rear-Admiral Ivan Vitautin, Commanding Officer of the First Joint Scout Flotilla, "We've all met, so take your seats and we can get right to it, gentlemen."
The flotilla was formed as a joint military endeavor by the Wuxianese Ministry of Defense and the Rusevian Empire's Ministry of War, with the goal of fostering closer diplomatic and military ties between the two nations, as well as training the fleet for an upcoming deployment in which the flotilla would see much action. The flotilla fell under the Wuxianese-Rusevian Joint Military Command, which was headed by staff members from military members from both Empires. Rear-Admiral Vitautin was a well respected officer in the Imperial Rusevian Navy, he had served for over two decades and amassed a wealth of experience in that time. The Wuxianese, in turn, provided two warships and their respective commanding officers; Commander Awangku Taeng and Lieutenant Commander Thahn Huyhn each a respected officer in their own right.
The Rear-Admiral continued, "We are now scheduled to take part in this Joint Fleet Training exercise to help integrate the way in which our crews work together. I have no doubts that we will easily be able to achieve this. Our respective defense ministries have agreed on a set of objectives for us to achieve in the exercise, as this is just a shakedown run, they are quite simple." The Rear-Admiral quickly detailed the objectives of the operation before asking if any of the officers had questions. As soon as the Rear-Admiral had finished both Wuxianese officers stood and offered the traditional Wuxianese salute, left hand formed into a fist with right hand wrapped over it.
"No questions, most-respected Rear Admiral," replied Awangku before lowering his salute, "Permission to disembark the RIN Krivak?"
With permission granted the Wuxianese officer staff returned to their ships, Rear-Admiral Vitautin assumed his place in the Combat Information Center of the RIN Krivak. He awaited confirmation from the captains of the two Nezha-I Destroyers to communicate that they had entered the formation and that they were ready to begin the operation. As their docking craft entered the small hangars of destroyers it took no less than two minutes for both ships to message the ready signal as engines flared with light as they roared into life once more.
"Lieutenant, contact Nezha-I Awangku, and Nezha-I Thahn, the jump is in 30 seconds, on my order." Spoke the Rear-Admiral. Immediately the young Lieutenant opened a communications channel with the two destroyers and relayed their orders.
"C> All units, begin the jump." Ordered Rear-Admiral Vituatin.
The scenery around the flotilla immediately changed, as did the aura of the crew aboard the RIN Krivak, immediately signatures began to show up on the screen, enemy ships were in the sector. On queue the Wuxianese destroyers began relaying their own information to the RIN Krivak, detailing enemy warships that were launching mass numbers of transports. One by one rings of light could be seen circling the individual targets as the poured from the belly of their motherships, information on their velocity, potential weapon compliment, and defensive capabilities flashing on the screen. Both Wuxianese warships remained parallel to the Frigate, holding back as they awaited the orders to enter the fray.
"They're attempting to make a landing, sir!" shouted the Executive Officer of the RIN Krivak as he tapped away at his dataslate.
"Indeed, Commander." spoke the Rear-Admiral, who immediately opened communication with the two destroyers to his flank, "C> All units form a line of battle between the planet and the incoming transports and begin engaging those vessels. Do not let those ships make it to the surface, do you understand?"
"C> Orders received," came the response as the Wuxianese warships kicked into motion, the destroyers roaring forward to get into position, "We will not falter, Admiral."
The flotilla engaged simultaneously, with volleys of beam cannons from the two destroyers and the Frigate engaging at long distances. The plan was for the beam cannons to thin their numbers at range, allowing the frigate to blast any enemies who made it past the hail of fire. The Wuxianese gunners proved to be highly effective and in minutes a vast majority of the enemy numbers were eliminated. The ones who miraculously made it past their daunting fire, were locked on and blasted with a barrage of short range missiles. It was not long before all incoming targets were destroyed.
"C> Well done Nezha-I Awangku, and Nezha-I Thahn, now for the big ones." spoke the Rear-Admiral acknowledging the effectiveness of the Wuxianese destroyers.
The enemy had three ships remaining, they had been slowly making their way into battle formation to engage the scout flotilla, and were now ready for combat.
"C> RIN Krivak focus all fire on the lead ship. Nezha-I Thahn, and Nezha-I Awangku, focus all beam cannons on the rear ship, try to disable her." Spoke the Rear-Admiral. His intent was to lead the two formations closer and closer together while engaging the enemy ships with beam cannons at range. If they could do enough damage at range and get the RIN Krivak up close, they could hit them with their heavy missile barrages.
A few minutes had passed while the ships exchanged fire, the two Nezha-I Destroyers were able to disable the rear ship of the enemy formation and had began engaging the middle ship by the time the ships had closed to missile range.
"Sir, we have a target lock." spoke the RIN Krivak's executive officer.
The Rear-Admiral's reply came as swiftly as the volley that followed, "Fire."
