The Indomitable barely had time to register surprise when a thin bolt of plasma erupted from the surface of the Hive world. The Hive had apparently invested in a new type of bug: one who could, with immense logistical support from its army, fire into orbit. Had the Indomitable been in top shape its shields could likely have soaked up the shot easily, allowing it to destroy an entire army worth of bugs on the surface. But in the aftermath of its first battle, the ship was on no condition to take any sort of hit, nor to initiate combat. The lance tore apart the Destroyer's engines, rendering the ship cold. The crew were forced to retreat in escape pods to bring their report back to Asteron.
The Torgau sector was cleared in a massive joint effort by the allies. Tens of thousands of bugs were hunted down and quashed. The work was time consuming and painstaking, but the bugs lacked knowledge of the planet or local support, and the clearing forces were overwhelming in both number and technology. Now the only bug insurgents who remained were the forces who originated in Ezria. They had spread out, but with little pursuit they were free to wreak havoc and attack rural homes. Many people grumbled, perceiving that the already weakened Asteron was now prioritizing its urban sectors and self-interest over the safety of the less developed areas.

As the light of conciousness fades from the planet.
The remaining troupes continue leaving messages.
Their cruasde to protect their colony, if only by slowing their sworn enemy down, all that know.
====================================================== -Remaining troupes continue to spread death and terror in as wide an area as possible.
-Avoid enemy troupes as much as possible.
-Attacks and raids may be be coordinated between them by mental connection.
-Long term damage is the ultimate goal.
-They CONTINUE to leave messages along the lines hinting at how all the horror that has been committed was avoidable, and they would of left, but Asteon, in their ego, escalated swearing eradication, costing who knows how many lives of both Asteron and it allies.

With the last of the bugs crushed in Torgau and with the Chairman dead, the war was effectively over. The Viscarri were planning on extracting their Legion, no doubt concerned with threats that the Hive posed to their own world. Meanwhile, the death of the Chairman had plunged Asteron into political chaos. Tensions were high, with the Third Army moving to fortify Vorcia in the event of any palace coup attempts. For once, the Asteran's were more concerned with the conduct of their '' allies '' than any real attempts to invade the Hive homeworld. As the fate of the Indomitable showed, the bugs were simply too well dug in and Asteron lacked the navy to bring the fight to them. The army meanwhile would continue its regular sweeps for any residual enemy forces that might remain behind.

VICTORY! REVOLUTIONARY WORKERS' ARMY WITHDRAWS FROM ASTERON!
After more than three cycles of war, the planet of Asteron has been cleared of the Hive Infestation. Although some small pockets of insect terrorists remain, RWA Takudars and the Asteran Army Command have concluded that the war is over. The scattered remains still threatening the planet will be treated as a strictly domestic operation, as the Asteran Revolutionary Council announced in a recent press conference.
RWA forces began withdrawing today, and the entire Federal People's Militia should be back on New Sovereignty within four days, according to Army Logistics Takudar estimates. The Revolutionary Guard will follow, and in 7 days there should be no RWA soldiers left in Asteran space.
This withdrawal plan contradicts reports last week that RWA forces would stay to assist the Asteran Army until Hive presence was completely eliminated from the planet, as well as preparations for an invasion of the Hive Homeworld. RWA General Andrasa Vilodor commented, "The report from the scouting force in Hive Space is clear. Every major settlement is heavily fortified, and they even have ground weapons capable of hitting any spacecraft that get too close. Invading now would be suicide." When asked about the early withdrawal, General Vilodor only had this to say: "All we know is that we're no longer welcome. The Revolutionary Council wants us out."
Requests to interview Asteran Army officers and Revolutionary Council members were denied.
__________
-- RWU withdraws all forces from Asteran territory. -- All forces return to New Sovereignty.

The departure of the Second Legion was a quiet affair without news coverage or fan fair. They had carried out the emperor's orders and now it was time to return home. They would take care that not a single piece of wargear was left behind. When the last troopship departed it was like they'd never been there.
