"I do not believe it is wise to get involved in the affairs of the outside galaxy, we must look to our borders as we have always done." The Admiralty council was in session today regarding the invasion of Asteron, news had come to them of the plight of Asteron at the hands of the Hive just that morning and they had been debating it since.
"Perhaps not but we must consider what will happen should the Hive make it to our borders, slight as the chance may be, better to end the threat now and be done with it." Truth be told, Kane had little care for the debate and said as much.
"The RWU are already preparing to aid them and the Viscarri are like to be on the move as it is, what help would we be? it's ground troops they need and we have none to provide." Not completely true, they could perhaps muster one army, but it would take time to get there and be of no use regardless.
"It might serve as a token of good will, perhaps they will be more inclined to keep out of our affairs if we aid them in this matter." said another Admiral, Kane barely remembered his name at the moment.
"Or perhaps it will only encourage them to be more involved, we trade but we do not get involved in affairs that do not concern us, have you learned nothing from our history. If the enemy comes we drive them out of our territory, nothing more, we protect our own, nothing more, we protect our people, nothing more."
And so it went, Kane was quite certain they would vote to do nothing but he supposed it was good to let them argue, it was a nice change of pace from the usual routine of negotiating fund allocation and dispensations.
