The hive armies exited Asteron's wormhole without opposition. Transport ships carrying millions of warrior bugs bore down towards the planet. They were slow, unarmed, and unarmored, but there was little to oppose them. All that stood between them and planetfall was a single Asteron destroyer, newly constructed and orbiting the planet when the bug ships arrived.
Each faction's goals were simple. The hive needed to land with as many soldiers alive as possible, preferably concentrated so that they couldn't be intercepted and picked off by planetside armies. Asteron needed to kill as many invaders in space as possible, and hopefully scatter and disorganize any landing forces to buy their planetary armies time. The first war of the new era was on.

It-That-Eternally-Hungers floated in the oxygenated blood-pod of the drone that carried it as it used the beasts senses to view their destination.
The hives Agents twisted in its chamber, as it flexed its several mandibles and mouthpieces.
The Hunger of the hive filled it.
Its queen formed it with Understanding.
The need for food the Hive needed.
A ship was blocking their way.
It-That-Eternally hungers stretched its awareness to the hive around it. Thousand of millions of individuals joined him, thinking with minds too dim to understand anything beyond emotions, and minds that blazed in complexities. Minds that could understand nothing but the blaze of calculations needed to navigate space. It was too much for any one being, slowly he grabbed his leaders, and reformed the chains of command post-jump.
He shared his Hunger with them. The shared it onwards.
He choose the acceptable landing zones, away from the hardened city-carapaces of their military, and into the soft flesh of their forges and thinkers.
Once inside, they could burrow their way through their preys structural flesh until they had their fill.
They would gather, swarm, and consume.
-------------------------------
Ships are told to spread out and converge upon landing locations in either Science or Industrial sectors avoiding the enemy ships firing range if possible, Their opponent would have to choose which to target, as they couldn't stop them all.
Armies are only told to attempt to keep together, and are given several potential paths for each ship to take to arrive there, The final landing location will be determined by the sum paths of least resistance.
Damaged/destroyed ships are to be used as shields between enemy fire and themselves whenever possible.
Dead troupes are to be re-deployed as Flak should the enemy use weapons vulnerable to such a thing.
Lastly, if a ship knows they will be unable to make landing, and systems are critical enough they determine they will not survive the fight anyways.. They are to set a course for where scans of the enemy armies current position on-world are, or barring that, the highest value military target. And accelerate. This will either pull off the defending ship to stop them, or it will take out a high priority target as the ship rams into the planet at space-traversing speeds.

Bridge of the Indomitable
Titus Trask was immovable from his command console, one by one, the enemy ships filling the scanners of the Indomitable.
'' Enemy vessels will be in range within three minutes and twenty five seconds. '' Lieutenant Utani said, a stopwatch clutched within one gloved hand as the naval officer kept a keen eye on his captain and the auspex systems. Titus Trask found his gaze traveling towards the sphere of the planet, laid out via hologram infront of him.
The army had already calculated probable landing spots, red blooms like a rash, spreading out amongst the surface to highlight the landing zones. Somewhere in a naval yard, the Captain's son was down there, no doubt, terrified and alone...but preparing to do his duty...like his father.
'' Plot firing solutions, set for maximum range. '' The Captain's voice was clear and strong, echoing throughout the silent bridge.
'' Thirty seconds.. '' Utani chimed.
'' Fire torpedo. '' The first missile was away, cutting through the inky black darkness of space towards the first of seven targets.
'' Reload, plot firing solution..... FIRE! ''
SUMMARY: -- The Indomitable opens fire at maximum range (hoping to get off as many shots as possible), trusting the torpedoes accuracy and the enemies slow speed to wreak maximum damage. She will continue firing as the enemy closes.
-- Fire will focus on ships projected to land in Ezria (research sector). Ground forces are standing by with anti-aircraft guns and interceptor aircraft to attack enemy ships as they break the atmosphere to land in ALL sectors.
-- The Indomitable will attempt to interpose herself and the planet between any attempts at a suicide run on the planet, using her superior shields to knock enemy vessels off course without having to physically collide with them.

Modmark
The hive's ships bore down on Asteron swiftly, splitting into two loose groups as they descended towards the planet. The Indomitable rested in orbit around the planet, playing the outnumbered goalkeeper while the swarm passed the system's outer rings completely unopposed. As they came within range the defender fired off a salvo of powerful torpedoes.
The first shot missed its target through some computing or navigational error and did not have the fuel to recover; it rocketed into the darkness of space and was lost. But the Indomitable's crew swiftly fixed the error, and the next shot was more accurate. The torpedo barreled right into the heart of a transport squadron and exploded with nuclear force, ripping several ships apart and leaving their carcasses floating in the vacuum. The next two torpedoes were similarly effective. But now the remaining bug ships had reached the planet. There was little the Indomitable could do as they descended through the atmosphere in a dense clump.
The ship had achieved some of its goal. Three of the bug armies never saw landfall, and they had been driven away from the science sector, leaving only the industrial region and its surroundings open to attack. But the four remaining armies, as well as It-That-Eternally-Hungers had all reached their destination relatively intact and in tight order. It would be difficult to oppose their landing.

Results Hive Unity army reaches Asteron. Landing site is Asteron's Industrial Sector.
3 Hive armies destroyed.
